Summer Discovery is coming back in 2027!
After an incredible first season, we are thrilled to announce that Summer Discovery will return to the Museum of the Mississippi Delta in late May 2027!

A Summer of Discovery – 2026 Recap
This summer, we explored Mississippi animals with live turtles, snakes, and birds, ginned cotton by hand, met real archaeologists, biologists, and conservationists, excavated dinosaurs from surprise rocks, and learned the importance of protecting our natural world. Families from across the Delta joined us for hands‑on learning and connected with natural science in meaningful ways.
What's Coming in 2027
We're already planning next year's lineup! Expect:
Live animal programs – including the return of Krissy Hamilton's Live Bird Show!
Hands‑on discovery – pelts, fossils, artifacts, and more
Cotton & farming – from field to fabric
NEW programs! – explore insects, space, and other exciting themes
Sensory Science – a calm, quiet program for children on the autism spectrum
Special events – Saturday Family Days, a Summer Discovery Showcase, and more!
When Does It Start?
