Nina Cork

September 2024

Nina Cork is a ceramicist and painter who blends traditional sacred imagery with a modern sensibility. After years of working in ceramics, Cork felt drawn to a new path—painting portraits that reflect the beauty she experienced in the holy imagery of her childhood. A self-taught painter, she now focuses on depictions of the Madonna and Child. While her work is deeply rooted in Christian tradition, it also speaks to the universal experience of motherhood. Cork notes, “Every mother eventually sends her precious child out into the world and relies on her faith and prayers.” Her ceramic Queens, while playful and vibrant, represent the enduring power of sacred femininity.

Nina Cork’s exhibit was a wonderful way to re-open the Museum. Around 75 guests were treated to her unique “queen “vases, prayer jars, sculptures and paintings.
